We Want You To Have This: Jewelry Gifts For Trans People
Requests for gifts are currently closed! I will open them up again once I have restocked the store and sent out the current batch.
Just looking for the forms? Here's the one to request a gift for yourself and the one for requesting one for someone else.
We Want You To Have This is a program to give gifts of jewelry to trans people who couldn't afford jewelry otherwise. It's run by me, Nora, a disabled non-binary artisan in New Mexico, with help from my beautiful husband.
If you're transgender, transexual, non-binary, two-spirit, genderqueer, genderfuck, outside the gender binary in another way and/or otherwise are not the gender you were assigned at birth, you count as trans for our purposes. You don't have to be out of the closet and you don't have to tell us what kind of transgender identity you have.
The way these gifts work is that you fill out a form and submit it to us and if we have slots available we email you a gift card. If you're requesting a gift for yourself (which we encourage!), the form has some questions about your jewelry preferences; these are just asked to be sure I'm keeping stuff in stock that suits everyone.
Gift cards are for $60, which covers $50 of stuff, $5 shipping and $5 for any local taxes.
If you are requesting a gift for a trans loved one and your request is accepted, you'll get the same $60 gift card and you can either choose to pick something out and have it sent to them at checkout or send along the gift card to them so they can go shopping for themselves. (We don't email recipients for you, mainly because there is no way to make a "we have a free gift for you" email actually look legitimate.)
Gifts are given out first come first served; I'll only throw out requests if they look like spam. Interested in sponsoring the program? You can buy a gift card for a stranger and I'll pass it along for you.
